International Women’s Day was celebrated recently on 8th March. On this day, women’s efforts , hard work and struggles are recognized around the world. This day is celebrated with a different theme each year. This year theme was “Gender Equality Today for a Sustainable Tomorrow”.
Keeping in view the IWD’2022 theme, Awaz-e-Niswan came up with the campaign “Humein Chayie” that focused on “what women want for a sustainable tomorrow?’. In this regard, women from different walks of life participated with great zeal in our online campaign and wrote their wishes and demands on placards that were shared on social media. Women demanded for education for all, identity, respect, civic and political participation, dignity, role in decision making and inclusion in public and private spheres. The other campaign covered digital stories of two Pakistani women who had bravely battelled hardships but never gave up and ultimately achieved their goal ; Ms. Romela Hameed, a female entrepreneur and differently-abled person, and Ms. Namkeen, a transgender rights activist.
