Awaz e Niswan National ToT on Women’s Political Education

Recently, Awaz e Niswan held a three-day TOT in Islamabad from 14th-16th December 2020. The objective of the ToT was to familiarize participants with AAN agenda, rationale, objectives and methodology. Furthermore, ToT served as a platform to identify volunteers and coordinators for future AAN activities all over Pakistan. For this purpose, women volunteers and members from Turbat, Quetta, Gilgit, Hunza, Ghizar, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad and Karachi were called on. Ms, Noreen Lehri, a development expert, facilitated the three-day activity with the help of AAN national secretariat staff.

Three-day session was designed to provide ample information to participants keeping in mind the objective of AAN which is to increase the visibility and influence of women voters and their issues among duty bearers. Therefore, participants were introduced with a diverse range of themes to sensitize, educate and inform them on issues important for women rights and their active political participation. Some of them were gender, democracy, politics, historical perspectives to women political participation, barriers to women political participation, rights, duties and barriers faced by voters, communication and leadership. The three-day activity assured equal learning opportunities and inclusion of all the participants. For this purpose, facilitator engaged participants in different individual and group activities which helped participants in grasping the core concept of the topics. At the end of the three-day activity, certificates were distributed among the participants.
