Awaz e Niswan Coordinator from Sindh held joint meeting with Chakiwara and Nawabad chapters. During the meeting, they discussed the modality and the issues to be raised in their upcoming meetings with the government representatives. The Nawabad and Chakiwara chapter members shared the outcomes of the community meetings by highlighting various issues being faced by women. The issues included: lack of access to and permission for girls to pursue education, lack of skill development opportunities and resources, limited provision of basic utilities such as water and gas facility, challenges in obtaining government documentation. It was agreed to take up the issues to the elected representative of Lyari town chairman.
Chapter president initiated a discussion on issues affecting women in the community and the ways in which chapter is providing support and guidance to the community women. A Gender-Based Violence (GBV) case was reported to the Sindh Women Commission and the chapter member Sabiha Shah, played a pivotal role of providing contact information of relevant organizations that could assist in addressing this issue.
At the end, chapter members shared their powerful experiences, creating impactful placards with strong messages against gender-based violence while commemorating the 16 Days of Activism.
