Three-Day Training on Gender Concepts, GBV Issues & Community Mobilization for Women’s Rights Organizations was recently held in Lahore by Oxfam under the Women Voice and Leadership Program (WVLP). Three member team from AAN participated in the training. Objective of the training was to familiarize participants with Gender and its core concepts, Gender based Violence, Community mobilizations and its techniques. Three day training offered ample opportunities to WRO’s representatives to raise and discuss Gender based issues through interactive activities and dialogue. At the end of the training, Organizational plan were developed and shared with the Oxfam which entails future program activities based on the learning from training.
Two day online training on GBV Response Strategies and Safeguarding/Safe Programming for WROs of Punjab and ICT was held on ZOOM. AAN was part of the online training. Training focused on prevention and response mechanism on GBV, GBV in a Humanitarian context, GBV prevention and response, organization immediate and long term strategies on GBV, Ideal women rights organizations and their characteristics, Qualities of people working in WRO’s, Safeguarding and protection principles, Feminist principles of OXFAM. It was an activity based training, where participants were distributed in smaller groups to discuss important key points.
Oxfam Pakistan under Women’s Voice and Leadership-Pakistan (WVL) project funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC), conducted a three day training on Advocacy and Campaigning Skills for nominated participants of 12 WROs at Margala Hotel, Islamabad from 20th-22nd Feb, 2021 for the capacity enhancement of the WROs’ representatives to build advocacy and campaign plans using effective tools.
The training participants were required to develop and share their Advocacy and Campaign Plan by the first week of March, AAN has started team consultations on finalizing the Advocacy and Camping Plan for the year 2021.
The subject training was conducted for the 12 WROs by Oxfam Pakistan under Women’s Voice and Leadership-Pakistan (WVL) project funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC). It was a four days training from February 23-26, 2021 for the nominated participants of 12 WROs held at Margala Hotel, Islamabad. The training was focused to enhance the understanding and capacity of the participants on Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) and its implementation in projects and organizations budgeting.
The intensive training commenced by introducing the concept of gender, gender analysis and budgeting and its implementation in the participating organizations’ work through content and interactive activities. On the last day, trainers shared the tools developed by them in consultation with Oxfam Pakistan to incorporate in the organization and/or project’s budget planning and execution. Based on the learning; the WROs developed organization’s action plan to integrate and implement the tools in their work which were shared with the trainers and Oxfam Pakistan.
The training was culminated with a panel discussion on the last day in which three practitioners from the field of gender analysis, reforms and budgeting were invited. The panelists shared their challenges and successes in developing and implementing the government and non-government gender just and gender sensitive projects and programs. The participants also had the opportunity for a discussion with the panelists that aided them in better comprehension of the challenges being faced and overcoming those constructively.
